What's new on the EDGE 1050? We will try to be brief:

First of all, the eye cannot help but notice the new liquid crystal display that does not integrate Solar technology but provides brighter colors and a look that winks at that of a smartphone.
The dimensions of the display do not change (diagonal of 88.9 mm), but the resolution increases, going from 282x470 pixels to 480x800 pixels.

Battery life lasts up to 20 hours (60 hours with battery saver mode)

Implementation and introduction of road hazard alerts reported by fellow cyclists (requires Garmin Connect app) and advanced GroupRide with your ride-racing buddies.
Helps cyclists stay connected with on-ride messaging, real-time locations and incident detection alerts (when paired with a compatible smartphone), which direct other cyclists to those who need help.

Garmin Edge 1050 is compatible with the Varia series for cycling and smart lights, as well as with inReach satellite communicators. For pedaling all year round, Edge 1050 can also be easily paired with Tacx indoor smart trainers.

The declared weight of the device is 161 grams and the external dimensions are 60.2 x 118.5 x 16.3 mm, against the 133 grams of the Edge 1040 and dimensions of 59.3 x 117.6 x 20 mm.
