Fulcrum WIND 42 DB 2WF XDR Wheelset

Wind 42 are designed with the aim of balancing performance and comfort, guaranteeing fluid handling and a versatile product. The new Wind wheels are suitable for use not only purely on the road, but also on light off-road (ASTM use category 2), enhancing the pleasure of driving even off busy roads. A project that meets the different declinations that are increasingly establishing themselves in the use of road bicycles.

Wind 42 inherits from the Speed ​​family - top of the road range in terms of performance - many of Fulcrum's proprietary technologies, to offer a superior riding feeling compared to the previous generation. Handling improves up to +22% and reactivity up to +10%* for a versatile and comfortable product, suitable for the modern cyclist.

Among the most obvious aspects, the height of the rims increases to 42 mm with a 23 mm internal channel, while the graphic design is totally new and follows the new Form Function Fulcrum stylistic canons, with an essential and at the same time refined design, which integrates all the technical product information thanks to the new iconography.

Main new features

The Wind 2024 rims have completely changed compared to their predecessors, having grown in height and also in width compared to them, they feature a weight saving of 100g thanks to the use of a new mix of carbon fibers and a new arrangement of the same inside the mold .

The internal channel measures 23mm and is completely sealed, thus allowing you to take advantage of tubeless technology without having to apply flaps.

Rims

The nose of the rim has been widened and now has a radius of 9.5 mm, ensuring better aerodynamic performance as well as an improvement in overall handling.

The patented DRSC™ system is used in the creation of the rim: a specific plastic insert embedded in the carbon near the nipples, which ensures greater robustness and durability to the system, discharging the tension of the nipple over a larger area and avoiding potential corrosion situations galvanic.

The rim channel does not have any holes thanks to the MOMAG assembly technology, which allows you to have a native 2-WAY FIT™ Tubeless rim, without the need for any sealing tape, and in the presence of a traditional Hook, guarantees maximum compatibility with all tube-type and tubeless tires on the market and maximum cyclist safety

The internal finish of the channel is made thanks to C-LUX™ technology and therefore glossy, to ensure an agile and perfect coupling with the tire thanks to the centesimal tolerances on the geometries of the channel that this technology allows to achieve, while the external finish of the rim is opaque. Part of the graphics are laser-cut to give a more modern look, and are completed with reflective stickers to increase visibility in low light conditions.

The coupling of the tire to the rim is clearly at the user's discretion and varies depending on the configuration of the bike and the type of route chosen.

Spokes

The double butted stainless steel spokes with round section Ø 2.0, 1.8, 2.0 are coupled with self-locking aluminum nipples, to guarantee constant performance over time.

The spokes are made with the Two-to-One™ pattern, which involves doubling the spokes in the areas subject to greatest stress to avoid energy dispersion and counteract the twisting force.

Crossed on both sides, the spokes never touch each other to avoid rubbing and deformations, keeping the mechanical characteristics unchanged over time.

Hubs

The hub is made from a forged material to offer greater mechanical resistance to the forces acting on it.

The sealed bearings work on an integral axis which allows adjustment via the appropriate preload ring nut, to minimize wear and guarantee excellent smoothness.

The freewheel rack has been strengthened and enlarged and now houses 36 teeth. The wheel is available in configurations with Campagnolo N3W, Shimano HG and Sram XDR bodies.
