Abus GAMECHANGER 2.0 Velvet Black Cycling Helmet

GameChanger 2.0 is the result of an approach without too many filters.
Abus gathered his champions around the table (Van der Poel and Valverde first and foremost) and asked them what details needed to be improved on the helmets used throughout their careers.
The result ended up surprising some athletes: Abus had given shape to the relevant requests without too much hesitation.

In addition to the cyclists, the comparison with the team technicians focused on performance has outlined new paradigms.
The aerodynamic efficiency for a helmet is fundamental, but it is not enough. The influence of body temperature on the action of each cyclist is increasingly decisive.

Aerodynamics and ventilation have thus become the two guiding parameters of the second GameChanger generation together with the essential dimensions of safety and comfort.

The research protocol followed a consolidated process: computational fluid dynamics (CFD) cycles, wind tunnel and track tests.
The starting idea? Merging the aerodynamic concepts of the GameChanger TT with the ventilation of the Airbreaker with further checks that focused on the heat dissipation of the structure.

If the first generation GameChanger inaugurated the series of racing helmets that today make Made in Italy a real source of pride, version 2.0 opens the doors to the company's new prospects.

New NACA airfoil
The “aerodynamic cone” generated by the lateral plane projection is 11% longer, as can be seen from the images below.
Please note: the helmet is not physically longer.

New degree of inclination
It works in synergy with the airfoil. A greater volume in the front corresponds to an 8° lower tail.

New Aeroblade
The two holes that were previously positioned visible on the upper part of the shell near the tail are now covered by the so-called Aeroblade. A laminate that helps to make the line of the helmet even more uniform on the frontal plane.

An air intake has been created between the Aeroblade and the shell which allows you not to sacrifice the ventilation distributed inside by six channels

New front area
The parabolic profile is more accentuated. A solution which, in addition to better protecting the frontal bone of the skull, allows for the reduction, if not elimination, of the light between the helmet and the full face glasses which today feature enveloping and abundant masks.

The side grilles disappear while the shark fin Acti Cage slats are confirmed. This latter solution allows you to reduce air entry during a head-down sprint without sacrificing ventilation at cruising speed.

The new shapes, in addition to being optimized for competition, increase the incoming air flow by 32% and the outgoing flow by 20% thanks to the new design of the rear area (AirFlow Star).
Abus guarantees the accommodation of the glasses through the front (Eyebrow Vents) and rear (Airport Vents) port.
The new helmet also inaugurates a new system for applying the decals: no longer adhesive, but hotly applied for an even more uniform touch sensation that prevents aesthetic decay.

Three sizes available (S, M, L) with the scales stopping at 260, 265 and 275 gr respectively.
